Description: |
Its name can be quite enough to realize who built this small town, that is the Benedictine monks, downright settlers of the Appenines of the early Middle Ages. And the fact that the small town is perched up at 1080 is there to prove the determination of the same monks. Certainly less clear is the relation between these facts and the echo of magic events and dark myths about the presence of the Sibilla on the mountain of the same name, which, although not so high as Mount Vettore, gave its name to the whole mountain range. Any of these places´ culture and tradition are strongly influenced by the myth of the Sibilla and this contributes in lending them an aura of mystery that made them famous throughout Europe, especially during the XV and XVI centuries.
The renewed interest in the myth of the Sibilla of the recent years seems to have given life to a significant cultural revisitation which has the aim of restoring the original location and of being as scientific as possible in its approach to the subject matter.
