Description: |
Located at 730m above sea-level, at the foot of Mount Bove, the village takes its name from the stream flowing further down towards the valley, once vital for the site´s development and prosperity. From the XIII century onwards, its history does not differ much from that of the neighbouring Visso; together they made up one of the five districts called ´guaite´ that joined together to free themselves from various fuedal lords. In 1380 Rodolfo Da Varano had a castle built on the hill called Fantellino, a castle still existing today.
Ussita is a very renowned holidaly resort whose features are definitely deserving to be noted. In winter, the surrrounding area, especially the popular location Frontignano, can boast excellent accomodation facilities and slopes of varying difficulty easily accessible to anyone, regardless of their age. In the summer, walkers, trekkers and nature lovers are offered excellent opportunities for outdoor activities, both on foot and on bike. An ice stadium, indoor swimming-pools, horse-riding centres and archery clubs are just some of the other entertainment opportunities that the small town offers to visitors.
